I remember the comfort I felt as a child when I went to church camp over the summer and would cuddle under the blankets and smell "home". Yes, there's something to be said about how emotions can change with something as simple as a scent.
As I grew up, I found myself spending my paycheck on things to make my house a home; but, candles could only be used when I was around, the plug-ins turned a burnt color, and the potpourri would stop smelling altogether. Prior to using Scentsy warmers, I had stocked up on twelve (yes, TWELVE) oil-burning plug ins. Being able to flip on a light and have my whole room smell wonderful was a game changer.
When I was first introduced to the product, I immediately fell in love with the scents. In fact, I used the products for six years before committing to the company. And, there for a short period of time, I found myself trying other "bars" in my warmers. Money was tight, it took time to order from a consultant, and I hadn't smelled the latest scents to know what I wanted.
But.
When it came time to change them out, the wax had an entirely different consistency. I found myself changing the bars more frequently and paying just as much as I was on the "real deal". Not to mention, the one time I bumped my warmer in the laundry rooms with my cheapest bar, cleaning up the wax was a mess. So, I decided to switch back.
It was a total God-thing that the very time I was searching for a consultant, we went out to eat with some new friends. Driving through the parking lot and spotting the logo on their car, my husband mentioned that his friend's wife was "really into Scentsy". I was so excited! Finally I had a consultant friend that lived nearby.
Weeks passed by and I was anxious to try out some new bars. The family nvited us over for an open house where I attentively thought about why I hadn't signed up years ago. After trying other home businesses and failing "because of my lack of being a salesman", I was hesitant to get involved. No one likes a pushy person, I see home-based businesses all over social media and run the other way, I'm in no place to host home parties...the list continued.
But.
Amidst all the negative thinking, a small thought slipped into my mind. For years I had depended on someone else and never saved a dime. Trying to start our own family through expensive fertility treatments and adoption costs, I thought, "If only to save money, it might be worth it."
So, that was the seed that was eventually watered with the potential for success when I was invited to attend a team meeting. Listening to the passion of the people in the room and the values I shared, it was easy to fall in love with the company. My dreams began to grow and somehow I saw the hope that this might be exactly what we needed. Therefore, the seed grew with the light of hope for our future family and I decided to join.
